The three cubs who have been indoors (Cub House and Hartley House) are outside at last! They were released into Wild Enclosure #2, which is a happier place for them.
Doodlebug was weighed first – 37 pounds!
Tater’s turn was next – he was an impressive 27 pounds!
Off to Wild Enclosure #2!
Nugget was weighed when she arrived on July 29, so she didn’t need a reweighing. She was 18.74 then. She couldn’t wait to get outside!
It didn’t take long for her to find a tree!
She looked around….
…and up she went!
There she is, and there she will most likely stay for a while.
Doodlebug headed out the gate.
She has chubbified during her time at ABR.
Tater took a minute to orient himself to the new space.
But he soon found the gate and out he went!
The two cubs reunited at the base of a tree.
Tater climbed up.
Doodlebug was right behind him.
She tried several times, but still doesn’t have the strength to climb that high. She got about a third of the way up, but that was it.
Doodlebug foraged and explored the area. It was sad for us to see her struggle, but there is plenty of time for her to practice her climbing and develop her skills. We remember how she practiced her balance and climbing in Hartley House, and we’re sure she’ll be able to do it in the Wild Enclosure.
So now all of the nine cubs are outside, where they will learn and grow until time for their release back into the wild. Keep watching!
