Things are going well at ABR for all four of the yearlings, including our little Lovey, who is starting his long road to recovery from surgery. We’ll start with him, in his confined recovery pen in the Recovery Center. You will recall that the ceiling is lowered so he can’t stand or climb, thereby keeping him from further injuring his leg.You can see his “naked” leg, which had to be shaved for the surgery. Also, there is the lamp with its UV bulb to give the little yearling the sunshine he needs to strengthen his calcium-deficient bones.

Nettles Bear appears suddenly, and makes her way to where her food is scattered.

She particularly likes pecans. Lucky for her, there are a lot of them to find.

The two Christmas yearlings sleep together in their culvert den. Cozy and warm, we think.

They also spend a lot of time up high in the trees. They do a lot of sleeping, which is just what they need.
