It is definitely cub season! This little cub was orphaned in Hawkins Co, TN. It was crying on a porch, and the people called TWRA, who told them to leave it alone as the mother would probably return for it. Unfortunately, she didn’t and TWRA Officer Ripley found the little bear in a nearby field. He rescued the cub and took it to UTCVM for his intake examination.

This little guy is much larger than Daisy Mae and Duke. ABR #396 weighs 7,05 pounds and has his full set of baby teeth! He is a feisty little boy, too. During the exam he shredded Dr. Cushing’s gloves and scratched him. But he is healthy, and was released to ABR with the usual deworming medication. Because of his larger size and the teeth, it is probable that he was born earlier in the year than the siblings. He is nicknamed Jellybean Bear.

Jellybean Bear – #396!

We’ll post more pictures of his arrival as well as updates on the other two cubs and the two yearlings as soon as we have them. Watch this space!
