A Day in the Life

This is a day in the life of Bud Bear, our patient, cooperative yearling bear. We can’t help but wonder if he instinctively knows that he needs the R&R, nutritious food, and sleep that ABR is providing, because we can’t imagine an average yearling bear putting up with the confinement.

It’s midnight and Bud appears to be holding up the wall in the Hartley House.
Guess he got tired of holding up the wall, as he has rolled over on his back and looks very relaxed.
Later, he is in a new pose, on his side, with his food dish on the bed.
Still later, Bud is curled up like a ball, and is back on his bed.
Curator Tom sweeps up the room. Bud makes quite a mess!
Continuing the cleaning ritual, Tom mops the floor.
This is the room reserved for Bud’s medicine. The antibiotics can be mixed into something delicious that he will eat so the curators can be sure that he has had his meds.
Since it’s not time for meds yet, Bud plays with a treat toy.

Bud Bear continues to amaze us with his willingness to be indoors and the way he is using the enrichment items. It’s obvious that the good, nutritious food is making a difference in his health.
