Lovey Bear was the fourth yearling to be released into the wild on July 11, 2023. Lovey was actually the first yearling to be admitted and his name came from the proximity to Valentine’s Day. He had serious medical problems that were skillfully solved by the UTCVM vets, and he returned to ABR to recuperate and regain his health. His video shows his rescue, life at ABR, and release.

We hope that Lovey Bear will live a long and happy life, avoid humans, and remain the healthy bear that he is now.

And that is the final chapter for our 2023 yearling bears. Now we will go back to reporting on the eight cubs who will remain at the ABR facility for several months.
