Thank you, Scenic Riceville Advocates!

On July 7, 2009 Appalachian Bear Rescue was invited to present a program for the monthly meeting of Scenic Riceville Advocates in a suburb of Asheville, NC.  Approximately 50 people came to view the PowerPoint “A Year in the Life of a Bear,” presented by two ABR education volunteers.  Since almost all of the members of the audience have had the experience of seeing bears in their yards, they had many questions for the presenters.

An exhibit, including a trifold display of photos of cubs at ABR and the rehabilitation process, plus various bear items (scat, tracks, fur, and a claw model) attracted a great deal of attention.  “Bear Safe” brochures were distributed.

ABR wants to thank the members of Scenic Riceville Advocates  for their generous donations, which will help feed our 8 cubs, who will be released in the fall.
