As we’ve said before, there is something new every day at ABR. Everyone was worried about Doodlebug a while ago, because of her small size and the fact that she had trouble with bear activities, like climbing. Since she and her two friends moved outside, she has blossomed and the trio of cubs have thrived together,

Here, Doodlebug props a pear against a tree, the better to eat it!

Say what?

There was a special treat for the cubs in each enclosure today. The curators gave each group frozen “beary sauce cakes” to lick and enjoy. And they certainly did!

Here are Doodlebug and her buddies, Tater and Nugget, enjoying their frozen treat.

After eating their treat, the three cubs retired to the Firehose Hammock to wrestle.

Doodlebug is really looking good!

She is becoming a chonky cub!

Remember how Turnip tried to make friends with Sprout? We were worried about their relationship, but we didn’t need to be. Sprout and Turnip were wrestling all day today!

The six cubs in Wild Enclosure #3 are still squishing together on the smallest section of the platform each night!

The curators are going to try something new – they plan to invite the six cubs to move into the enclosure next door, where they will (perhaps) find less crowded sleeping quarters.

Wild Enclosure #4 has been vacant since the yearlings were released. We can see the undergrowth has recovered very well – almost too well! The curators have been working to clean it up.

Now it’s ready for the six miscreants from next door.

The cubs listed as being in Enclosure #3 will now be in #4. The gate between the two enclosures will be opened, food will be tossed in, and the cubs can follow their noses (and tummies) into their new digs!

Watch this space to see how they adjust to their new enclosure, and what the sleeping arrangements will be!
