A healthy snack for a cub

Appalachian Bear Rescue uses many varieties of  healthy, natural foods to nourish the orphan bear cubs in our care.  Bears in the wild eat many kinds of plants, including roots, leaves, fruits, and forbs.  They also eat a quantity of insects.  ABR can’t come up with enough insects, so dry dog food is used as a supplement, for the protein requirements in the cubs’ diet.  In this photo, you can see one of our cubs with a carrot (a root).  A healthy snack for a cub
