As you can see in these photos, bears find it easy to stand on their back feet. This is because they are plantigrade walkers (meaning they walk flat-footed like we do, not on their toes like many other animals).
People often mistakenly assume a bear is getting ready to charge when it stands up, but that is not true. In the wild, a bear stands up to get a better sense of something that caught its attention when it was down on all fours.
Cubs often play “dance” or tussle while in a standing position. Maybe “Dancing with the Stars” could learn something from the ABR cubs!
