Cubs on the Ground, Foraging

Comments are off

Although many of the photos we post show the cubs up in trees, they do come down to forage.  Curator Janet took some good photos of the foursome foraging together.

Three of the cubs are foraging in the tall grass.

Two of them seem to be looking around.

Sweet Pea lookout

Sweet Pea remains watchful. Perhaps she is the designated lookout.

Sweet Pea stands

Something caught her eye and she stands up.

She stands even taller. The others don’t seem to be concerned.

Bears do stand up on their hind legs like this, to get a better view or sniff of something that attracted their attention.  Many people think this means the bear is going to charge, but it is not an aggressive action.  It’s just a way to get more information.
