Cubs by Night and Day

The security cameras in our enclosures and other locations allow us to see the cubs at all hours of the day and night. The curators, who thought they knew what was going on, have found out some interesting new facts about the cubs and what they do.

Here’s a new one – look at how the cubs are resting. Do you think it’s cooler when you’re on your back? One thing is certain, you wouldn’t find bears lying on their backs anywhere else. They must feel completely safe in order to expose their tummies like this.
Who knew that sometimes a group of cubs holds a late night meeting under the trees?
How comfortable!(?) Dandelion rests on leaves and sticks.
Dandelion turns in her daybed, and her eyes reflect the light.
This little cub looks up as if wishing on a star.
Jessamine is a determined cub – she may eventually get the tarp completely off of the Acclimation Pen.

The cubs are active 24/7 – that is, except when they are sleeping. It is fascinating to watch them via the security cameras and see how their activities change from one day to the next.
