Cubs Are Busy

Comments are off

The chubbified bear cubs at ABR are still eating to gain even MORE weight, as they should, but they are also sleeping a lot, too.

Here are the chonky  cubs in Wild Enclosure #1, waking up after sleeping together on their resting platform.

Angus shows that it’s not easy to wake up. It must be done slowly.

Off they go to forage. One cub tackles a “springy tree.”

Anatomy of a Springy Tree, another one of the clever designs by the curators to provide enrichment for the cubs. In this case, hopefully to divert attention from the saplings!

Heather wakes up slowly and starts her day by trying to remove the firehose strips from her platform.

Heather from another angle.

The “T” cubs were digging furiously and then munching the bugs they had excavated.

Then they wandered over to another area and foraged for peanuts, chestnuts, and berries provided by the curators.

The girls in Wild Enclosure #4 foraged in the underbrush where it was hard to see them, but eventually came out by the vertical den.
