Wrapping Up February

Some years, ABR has had no bears by the end of February. This is not one of those years. As you know, we had only three yearlings at the start of the month, but after admitting two very needy yearlings, Lovey Bear and HRH Rover Bear, our population now stands at 5! Let’s take a look at each one of them, starting with those who are outside.

It was a windy day, so Nettles (our “Bird Bear”) spent her time in her tree, where she hung out on Summitt’s branch.

Eventually she decided to climb down.

Nettles is a great climber!

When she reached the ground, she foraged for her favorite pecans.

After spending all day in the trees, the Christmas Siblings wandered into the Acclimation Pen. They are really committed to their investigation of the gate.

Lovey Bear, basking in the UV light from his lamp, moved a bit so the curators could close the gate and clean his other room. He is coming along well.

Finally, HRH Rover Bear had a busy day and was very much involved with his toys. That is surprising for a little bear who is in such a depleted physical condition. We hope this continues!

Let’s see what March has in store for ABR. Stick around!
