Finn

Three Cubs Foraging

Comments are off

Curator Janet was able to confirm what the curators had thought, that Eliza and Andy Bear were, indeed, coming down from their tree to forage.  She was able to take pictures of all three of the cubs on the ground, foraging near to each other!  This is what we had hoped to see as it means that Finnegan is having some contact with others of his kind.  Hopefully it will continue.

Finnegan foraging on the ground near Andy and Eliza.

Finn

Finn knows how to sniff out food in the undergrowth.

Andy

Not far away, Andy is in the undergrowth, scoping things out.

Andy

Andy sets out to find something to eat.

Eliza

Eliza is foraging in the same area as the two male cubs.

Eliza

She turns and follows her nose to something tasty.

We can see the size difference between Finnegan, who has had more bountiful quantities of food since his arrival at ABR in March, and the two siblings who were in the wild until just a few weeks ago.  They are putting on weight, but need to gain more.

Over in Wild Enclosure #3, Lucinda sits in her tree.  She has not taken the bait as yet, but we are sure that she will in due time.  As a healthy yearling she needs to get back out in the wild.

Lucinda

Lucinda looks great. She has gained needed weight and her coat looks good.

Stay tuned as we follow the cubs and their developing tolerance for each other and wait to see when Lucinda will be ready to leave ABR.
