Barley Bear in The Cub Nursery

Comments are off

Barley Bear (ABR #335) is now residing in The Cub Nursery, next door to Hops Bear. There are black curtains separating the pens, so the cubs can’t see each other as yet. But being bears, with noses that can smell food more than a mile away, they know everything they need to know already. Within a few days, the two cubs will be introduced and will share their learning experiences. For now, they have separate rooms.

Barley Bear has plenty of things to keep him occupied. Note the empty bowl! He was given some Pediatlyte in that bowl, and lapped it up! Maybe he’ll teach Hops how to lap.
Curator Coy is cleaning Barley’s pen. Barley is hiding in the back corner.
Coy removes the climbing structure in order to clean the pen.
The pen is clean. Hops’ nose is visible (with the help of the yellow arrow) at the top of his pen, where he has climbed up on the wall.
Barley is back in his clean pen (but is still hiding behind the stuffed bears) and Coy has moved on to clean Hops’ pen.

We can’t wait to see how the two cubs get along, when they are given the opportunity to get better acquainted and play together. Stay tuned.
