On this day Andy Bear was the only one of the three who made an appearance. Eliza and Finnegan were nowhere to be seen. Andy was hidden at first, also.

Andy is hidden by leaves, but we can see him.
Although the others stayed hidden, Andy ventured out of hiding. He was on the prowl for food.

Andy comes out of hiding. He starts his search for food.

As he prowls, he strikes his “show pose.”
Did you know that bears are related to dogs? In taxonomic classification, dogs and bears are the same down to Family, which is where they diverge. Andy must think he is a dog as he strikes another dog-like pose, that of a pointer.

Andy looks like a pointer in this pose. What do you suppose he’s pointing to?

If you guessed he was pointing to food, you were correct. He found tasty pears, muscadines and acorns.

He selects what he wants to eat first.

Yummy in a little bear’s tummy!
Andy was happy to find the delicious fruits and nuts. Now where do you suppose the other two cubs are? Don’t worry, there is plenty of food for all. Andy won’t eat it all before they get their share.
