On July 27, 2023, TWRA Biologist Janelle contacted ABR about an orphaned, 6-month-old female cub. It seems that her mother was shot by a property owner in Cocke County after she killed and ate some of his chickens. Two of our curators, Haley and Kamryn, met TWRA at the UT College of Veterinary Medicine, where the cub was examined and found to be healthy. She weighs 18.7 pounds, a satisfactory weight for a 6-month-old. Nugget will be housed in the Cub House for a few days while she takes the usual anti-parasite medication. Nugget brings our cub population to nine and the number of females to four!
