In late November 2011 ABR admitted the 31st cub of the year, subsequently named Rupert.

We wrote about him in this post, and here is a photo of him after only two days at ABR

Look at Rupert now!  He has attained the size and weight needed to be released into the large enclosure (aka the Wild Side).  The gate was opened for him and his 6 roommates to venture out into the large area when they are ready.

But since the weather has been very cold and wet the last couple of days, the little bears have declined the invitation, preferring to stay tucked into their cozy den. With better weather forecast for later in the week they will probably move out and investigate the trees as well as the den spaces in that area.
