Now that our yearlings have been released back to the wild, ABR is caring for the six cubs. All of these little bear cubs are about two and one-half months old, but as you will see in the video, there is a great difference in the mobility of the cubs. Duke, Daisy Mae, and Jellybean are enough older (maybe a couple weeks) that they are much more sure-footed and steady as they climb on the log structure in their room. Peeps, on the other hand, is quite obviously the youngest, as she struggles with the log in her room. The other two, Casper and Shadow, are probably a little older than Peeps but not quite as old as the trio. It’s an education in the physical development of bear cubs as you watch them.
We hope you enjoyed today’s lesson in cub development. We’ll learn more as time goes on. Stay tuned!
