We have had some very cold nights recently, and the bear cubs have discovered that their water is hard! Of course, this is their first experience with frozen water, and it seems puzzling.

Twinkle can’t drink from her drinking tub!

She actually can stand on the water!

She finds the Cubby Pool is hard, too!

She stands on it and licks the ice.

Unexpectedly, she discovers that ice can break, and she gets a polar bear plunge!

Twinkle gets out fast! She didn’t like that!

Twinkle and Tinsel are still maintaining their distance, but the distance is gradually narrowing. The arrow points to Tinsel’s nose; she’s on another tree.

Tinsel seems to be the braver cub, as she gets closer.

She is distracted by a Forbidden Tree.

On to Wild Enclosure #1 –

The four cubs snuggle together to sleep on their platform.

These larger cubs love their ice water! They can break the ice with their noses, and enjoy taking a piece of ice to go!

Time to play – they choose partners and have at it.

Twinkle found that the water had turned hard again overnight.

She walks on the water!

But seeing the edges begin to break, she makes a hasty exit! No more cold water baths for her!

Twinkle walks along the edge of the pool, but keeps herself out of the water.

Tinsel has come over into Twinkle’s territory. We may see a meeting soon!

The floating pear comes by, but it’s obvious that Tinsel needs to do some bulking up to achieve the perfect pear shape!

Watch this space to see when the two girls become friends – it’s sure to happen before long!
