These two little females started their stay at ABR at 12 pounds each.
Stella arrived on February 19th and Bella was admitted on March 3rd. Each of them were lonely to begin with but they have bonded in their pen and, as this photo shows, they are good buddies now.
It is important that these little orphan bears, who have lost the comfort of a mother and perhaps a sibling or two, have others of their kind with whom to share their time at ABR. Although bears are by nature solitary animals, the bond between a sow and her cubs is very strong during the time they are together.
Forming close relationships with other orphaned cubs at ABR helps each little bear to find his/her future place in the bears’ world.
