Turnip Bear has done well with the crunchier food, so today he was able to go outside to Wild Enclosure #1, to join the four cubs in that enclosure.
He wasn’t sure about the open door, and hesitated.
Soon he accepted the invitation to go out.
The four cubs were foraging together. Puddin’ has already become a part of the gang.
There were many shenanigans: cubby sparring, sapling murdalization, etc. The cubs didn’t know they were about to welcome a new member to their gang.
Curator Cole had put out a large quantity of apples and peanuts. He wanted Turnip to know there would be plenty of food for all of them.
Turnip went into the Acclimation Pen.
He sniffed the Firehose Hammock.
Curator Haley was ready to raise the gate remotely when Turnip was in the pen. She watched on her phone, looking at the video from the cam.
Turnip was very fast running through the Acc. Pen and out the gate!
He didn’t climb a tree, but went to the Firehose Hammock!
He was not sure what it was and there was a lot of sniffing and panting as he checked it out.
Director Dana and Curator Haley watched from the Observation Tower, to make sure that all went well.
Turnip is doing well on his big day – his first in the Wild Enclosure.
The other four cubs noticed the new cub in their enclosure. Caramel came down to the platform to watch; the others continued to forage.
By the way, Doodlebug also watched the proceedings from high in a tree next door. She snacked on leaves while watching. Good bear!
