The four yearlings at ABR are doing well. It won’t be long until their release, as soon as the soft mast (berries) is ready for them. Meanwhile, we’ll take a look at them to see how they are growing.
He was the first to arrive, in February. Lovey has grown into a handsome yearling bear.
The royal look of HRH Rover Bear is unmistakable. His fur is sleek and shiny, as befits a royal!
HoneyBunny is NOT sleek and shiny, at least not yet. Her winter fur just doesn’t seem to be ready to come off. When it finally does, she will look much better!
HoneyBunny goes in the pool, perhaps to scrub off that pesky fur. Townsend wants to join her.
He lands with a splash, whether she wanted his company or not.
Here are the buckets of food that the curators will throw into the enclosures.
And this is a popsicle (or Fruit Freezie) for the yearlings.
The cubs need cool treats, too. These are just their size.
It’s easy to see that the bears at ABR are living a good life. They will start out healthy and well-fed when they return to the wild.
