Myrtle Bear has claimed a tree and a corner of the enclosure. She seems to stay in that area.
Myrtle in “her tree.” The curators are happy that she is outside!
She comes down to forage. Even though she waits until night, it’s a good sign that she’s coming down this soon after her introduction to the enclosure.
Here is Myrtle in her corner of Wild Enclosure #3, in the daytime.
The other four cubs still aren’t sure about her, and seem to think it’s best to stay in their tree.
Here is Thistle.
Thyme is one of Thistle’s sisters.Taco is the adopted member of the family. Hopefully, Myrtle will soon be an adopted sibling, too!
The curators are just happy that she is outside and is foraging, as she should be.
Yearling Heather Bear found a stick! Yearlings, as well as cubs, like to play with found objects in their environment.
This stick makes a good toy for Heather!
Doesn’t Heather look great? She has made a lot of progress on her road to recovery!
We are proud of the improvement in all of the cubs as well as our yearling.
