Two more yearling cubs released!

Comments are off

Earlier today we reported that seven of the yearling cubs at ABR were released back into the wild.

Before they left, the TWRA officers worked up 2 more.  Apple and Cade were a female  cub and male cub who both came to ABR on November 22, 2011.  They were very small at the time, but after devouring lots of yogurt, applesauce, berries, apples, pears, and nuts, Apple weighed 53 pounds today and Cade weighed a whopping 93 pounds!  They are on their way to a wild home out there in the forest.

This is a photo of the crew of officers (plus curator Lisa) who worked up all of the bears, keeping them cool by running water over them.  After loading them into carriers on the trucks, they drove them to their new homes.

These are great guys who really care about our “Chubby Cubbies” and worked very hard during a long, hot day.  We appreciate all that TWRA does for ABR.
