We have been watching the drama unfold in Wild Enclosure #3 since Myrtle Bear joined the four T cubs. From our human perspective, it seems very unfair and even a bit sad that Myrtle wasn’t welcomed into the group right away. But we aren’t bears, and they have to work things out in their own way and their own time. We have a new chapter today.
It starts in the middle of the night, as we see Myrtle sitting on the safety log that was displaced from the pool.
The four T cubs are on the platform, very much aware of Myrtle and where she is.
In the daytime there was a face-off between Taco and Myrtle. Each cub had their own tree.
The triplets walked right by Myrtle without acknowledging her. Snobs!
Taco climbed down to join them.
They didn’t give Myrtle a backward glance, but left her in her tree.
Undaunted, Myrtle climbed down to see what would happen next.
After being snubbed by the other four cubs, brave Myrtle approaches them.
Bravery only lasts so long. She runs back to her tree.
The cubs have left. Now Myrtle has access to the platform.
The cubs return. Sort of a “someone is sleeping in my bed” scenario.
Taco climbs up to confront Myrtle.
Instead, Myrtle slaps at Taco!
Taco beats a hasty retreat!
Peace at last! Myrtle has the resting platform all to herself! Good bear! We can’t wait to see what happens next! Watch this space!
