Yesterday we posted about another set of triplet cubs at ABR. The cubs have been to the UTCVM for their intake exams and we have new information about the three of them. #364 is the only female in the trio. Her nickname is Peppermint, and she weighed 17.82 pounds. One brother is #365 Mistletoe, at 19.8 pounds he is the heaviest of the siblings. Finally, #366 CranBeary is the smallest cub, weighing just 11 pounds.
All of the cubs are healthy, but of course they are much smaller than the cubs who have been eating the enriched diet at ABR. Even our previously smallest cub, Nettles, is larger than these little ones. Here is the video of these new triplets.
We are sure that these little cubs will start to gain weight and grow as they eat the diet of acorns, peanuts, persimmons, and bear diet pellets that will provide the nourishment that they need. It is quite possible that they will need to stay at ABR over the winter, to be ready to thrive when they are released into the wild. Watch this space.
