New photos of two of our girls

Eleanor, our cinnamon black bear, weighed 18 pounds when she arrived on February 8.  That was more than many of the other arrivals, but was still much less than she should have weighed at the age of one year.  She looks very much like a “Chubby Cubby” now, and will very likely be released into the Wild Side after the larger bears have their wild releases very soon.  In that larger enclosure, Eleanor will learn more about being a bear and further develop her wild behavior.

Another female, Amethyst, was much smaller when she was admitted on March 3.  She weighed just 10 pounds.  Amethyst is still one of the smallest yearling cubs, and will be spending another couple of months, at least, at ABR in order to continue to make progress toward her eventual wild release.  She isn’t quite ready to venture into the Wild Side at this time, but it won’t be long, as she thoroughly enjoys the good food at ABR!
