Arizona Game and Fish offers excellent and timely advice to campers and hikers in their state.  This advice is pertinent to anyone in any state where bears are active.  We’ve posted other articles with similar advice, but as the summer vacation season winds down, a reminder is a good thing.  We especially like the last sentence: “It must be the humans . . . who adapt their habits to fit the bear’s environment.” 

The bear in the photo, despite being brown in color, is an American black bear.  Brown is a color phase of the black bear in western regions.
