We’ve mentioned that as hyperphagia slows down, and the days are getting shorter, the cubs are sleeping more. They are definitely more lazy. Since she is in the climate and light controlled Hartley House, Nettles is in a different situation, but she is doing a lot of sleeping, too. She needs it, to recover and get stronger.
Nettles likes to sleep with (or on) her Not a Polar Bear.
She has a new menu to help her chubbify – acorns, chestnuts, and Mazouri Bear Diet Pellets. She eats with relish!
Nettles has not destroyed the “fall-themed art arrangement” that the curators created for her. Amazing!
Piper shows us how hard it is to get up. Look at that long tongue!
This unidentified foot must belong to another cub in Enclosure #1
Nessie has enough energy to rip up the firehose trim on the platform.
That done, she snoozes on the resting platform with her brother Piper.
Spooky time! The cubs in Enclosure #3 slept in a pile or two at the base of a tree.
But in the morning they were everywhere – up, down, and in trees.
The girls in Enclosure #4 chose to sleep on a platform. So each group does their own thing.
They are also slow to get moving. Little Trouble just sat for a while.
So if any of us feel lazier in the morning these days, we can know that we are not alone in our laziness! The bear cubs are sharing our lazy feelings.
