We have noticed that many of the ABR cubs are sporting decorations these days. No, they aren’t Christmas decorations, they are Posterior Peanut Decorations! Just look:
Here is one of our chonky cubs, with peanut decorations on his/her rump.
Another “peanut butt” cub.
And yet another, showing the peanuts on the rear end as he/she leaves the scene.
It’s not surprising, we think, since their fur has grown thick with the onset of colder weather, and since they spend a lot of time foraging in areas that are covered in peanuts. Must be the signs of a well fed and well dressed cub!
Curator Tom brought in a load of straw for the cubs, since they will be staying a bit longer. The straw will be added to the Acclimation Pens and the enclosures, so that if a cub wants to rake straw into a bed, it can be done.
The Fight Club girls in Wild Enclosure #4 continue to forage. Their enclosure-mate, Nettles, remains in her tree, but comes down to forage at night. We are guessing that the four big girls are intimidating to Nettles.
Yes, those girls are of a size to be intimidating. They frequent the food wheel in their Acclimation Pen, and as a result they are chubby and have beautiful fur coats.
We wonder if any of these extra-chubby cubs will decide they have eaten enough and will settle down for a nap. Time will tell. Stay tuned!
