Our female yearling, #262 (Dani Bear) showed the curators that she was tired of being confined in the Acclimation Pen. Curator Janet obliged by releasing her into Wild Enclosure #4, where Summitt Bear is residing. Here is the story in photos.
We begin with Dani Bear on the platform in the Acclimation Pen. There is the gate that leads outside.
Dani is hiding behind the tree-post.
Curator Janet raised the gate remotely.
The gate is open.
Dani didn’t waste any time investigating the opening.
She came out into the Wild Enclosure. Grass is familiar to her.
Through the tall grass, Dani heads for the trees.
All we can see, as she goes through the grass, is her ears.
Reaching the tree, she climbs up.
Zoom lens brings the bear closer.
The tree makes her feel secure and she goes to sleep.
Summitt, sleeping in another tree, wakes up briefly.
Summitt Bear is unconcerned and goes back to sleep.
Now we’ll take a quick peek at the two cubs in the Acclimation Pen.
Otto gets into his breakfast, literally.
In a nearby bowl, there is Rollo!
Now we have two yearlings in the Wild Enclosure and two cubs in the Acclimation Pen.
