Although they aren’t necessarily engaged in any specific activity, all of the ABR cubs (and the yearling) are busy with eating and sleeping. These are the two main “jobs” for ABR bears, so that they will be ready for their hibernation after release back into the wild.
Thistle Bear was seen digging, most likely for bugs, in Wild Enclosure #3.
Over in Wild Enclosure #1, the cubs were hungry. They foraged for the curator-provided foods like apples, pears, peanuts, and bear diet pellets.
Last night, yearling Heather slept on her platform.
She took a swim in the morning. Heather seems to really like her pool!
She feels safe now and forages throughout the enclosure.
In the middle of the night, the girls in Wild Enclosure #4 were up playing and eating!
By day, they forage near the vertical den. They can climb the ladder if they want to get inside quickly.
The cubs make the rounds of the places where they know the curators toss the food.
One of the “T” cubs in Wild Enclosure #3 was out of camera range in this photo, but we can be sure that he/she is foraging like the others.
The sleepy cubs in Enclosure #1 are still “in bed” at 9:30!
This cub is very likely Taco Bear, but when a cub is up this high it’s hard to I.D. it. All of the cubs like to climb high into the trees.
Hyperphasia is definitely here and is affecting all of the ABR bears as well as the bears in the wild.
