Bear cubs can (and do) cause a lot of chaos! For example, take the Hartley House hooligans!
As expected, they are trying to destroy their climbing structure. Left to right are Doodlebug, Burrito, and Tamale Bear. What fun!
Time for a quick recharge of batteries. All three napping at the same time!
More chaos is displayed in the Acclimation Pen where Flapjack and Thumper are currently housed. They were gifted with a new Cubby Pool.
Flapjack’s first thought was to chomp on it.
The cubs looked it over, as if deciding what to do next.
Two strong little cubs set to work on their new “toy.”
One cub got the idea to fold it in two.
One cub stands and the other one pulls on the side.
The pool is history! The total destruction took less than an hour!
Smart curators replaced the destroyed pool with a much sturdier Cub Tub. It may be strong enough to last in spite of the cubs’ destructiveness! We hope so!
Over in The Cub House, our most recent arrival, little Tater Bear, is a much calmer little bear. Of course, he has only been away from his mama and siblings for a couple of days and is suffering the effects of the recent trauma.
On his first night, Tater Bear went to sleep in his food bowl.
After a while he moved onto Not a Polar Bear and slept for the rest of the night.
Tater has access to both rooms of The Cub House.
He has been through a lot, but the good news is that he is eating and drinking well. He is also looking for a way to get out, and that’s a good sign.
TWRA is still looking for his elusive little brother or sister. Fingers crossed that they are successful! Stay tuned.
