Today (April 29th) ABR received another 3-month-old male bear cub from Kentucky – #336, nicknamed Bourbon Bear! We don’t know what happened to his mother, but he was found by a member of the public in a remote area. The cub was unresponsive and couldn’t lift his head. KY Bear Biologist Tristan Curry determined that he had been without food for a while, and gave him some fluids before transporting him to TN. Bourbon Bear had the usual examination by the vets at the UT College of Veterinary Medicine, and was found to be healthy, weighing 5.1 pounds.
The three cubs are about the same size and should get along very well when they are introduced. More news to come!
