Hops Up Close

Today we have some closeup pictures of little Hops Bear and some of his parts. These won’t be possible for much longer, as it will be difficult to get this close, in addition to the fact that the curators will be continuing to reduce their interactions with the little bear cub. So enjoy these for rare glimpses of a tiny cub.

Hello, Hops! Looks like you are interested in food.
Here is a front paw with paw pads and those claws! The curator holds his paw for us to see and to give us an idea of how small it is.
Those claws are pretty impressive, even though the paw is tiny.
Look at this back paw with its equally impressive claws!
Hops investigates the nipple in the weaning bowl. He has been seen licking it, a good first step.

The curators are confident that it won’t be long before Hops learns that the bowl contains his formula and that he can lap it up himself. When that happens, he will be weaned from the bottle. Stick around to see this happen.
