Hops is Gaining Weight!

When Hops Bear arrived at ABR on April 12th he weighed just 2.64 pounds. We’ve seen how he has taken to the bottle of bear milk replacement formula and the curators have been feeding him around the clock. He was weighed again on April 20th and tipped the scales at 4 pounds! Quite an impressive weight gain in just over a week! He is still vocalizing loudly when he is hungry, and now he drinks two ounces of full strength formula every four hours.

Hops stands up in his pen to holler for his next feeding.
Curator Quanah fills the weaning bowl. Hops hasn’t drunk from it yet, but he will.
Hops is doing more walking, getting a bit steadier, and is moving around more in the pen.
Ignoring the weaning bowl, Hops hides amongst his stuffed animals.
After his (bottle) feeding, Hops shows off his little, rounded, bear belly.
Once again, he hides in his stuffed animals. The weaning bowl is untouched.
Hops climbs the walls of his pen. Good bear!
Hops practices his digging skills by digging up the towels in the bottom of the pen.

Hops is making progress every day. It’s amazing how much he has changed in just a few days. Stay tuned.
