Hartley Bear, who was so very needy when he came to ABR in February, has made phenomenal progress. As you know, his old winter fur is still falling out, but is being replaced with a beautiful new summer coat. He is doing well in his Wild Enclosure, and seems to be feeling so safe that he enjoys playing with a “toy” he found – a piece of tree bark! This little video shows Hartley at midnight (thanks to the enclosure cam that films day and night). Bears, especially cubs and yearlings, can be very playful if they feel safe and unafraid. We’ve seen many of our bears play with found objects, as Hartley is doing in this short video. Click here to watch. It is sure to bring a smile to your face and perhaps it will make you chuckle.
