ABR is caring for three yearling bears, all of whom have serious issues. Each of them was extremely malnourished and underweight. In fact, in each case, the life of the little yearling was literally hanging by a thread. No one, even the vets at the UT College of Veterinary Medicine, could be sure these little bears would survive.

So far it seems that they are beating the odds. Today we have photos that show the progress being made by these three little fourteen-month-old bears.

The shaggy fur around his neck and on his lower body is the old coat that will continue to fall out, leaving just his sleek, summer fur.

As seen in the photo, Sweetie Bear is now able to eat whole fruits. She seems very happy with her expanded menu.

Daffodil Bear was extremely fragile. Although yearlings are not usually kept in the Cub Nursery, she has to be fed so often, it’s the best place for her. She is moving around on her own and eating the yogurt and baby foods in addition to the formula.

The vet team was very impressed with the progress that these little bears have made so far. We are grateful for their ongoing support and help.
