Where are the bears?

With the arrival of Daffodil Bear, ABR now has five little bears in residence. We thought it was time to bring everyone up to date on where each one is living now.

Hartley Bear is enjoying his Wild Enclosure and taking full advantage of the trees and the space it offers.

Hartley loves climbing the trees. He’s climbed most of them, and seems to like being up high.

He drinks from the Cubby Pool. Note the old fur and the new fur. He will be a beautiful bear when that new coat replaces the old, shaggy one!

This photo really shows the difference between the old winter and new summer fur.

Hartley naps in the tree or at its base. He’s happy with either.

Sweetie Bear has moved into the Red Roof Recovery Center, now that Hartley moved outside. She is enjoying the additional space. Sweetie is able to eat more of a variety of foods now – refeeding is no longer a concern.

Just before her move, Sweetie Bear was showing that she needed more room!

As soon as she entered the Recovery Center, she climbed as high as she could.

As for the Two Louisiana cubs, Boudreau and Beignet, they are growing and gaining strength. They enjoy their playtime when they are together, and they still are sleeping apart.

Beignet comes out to play.

Boudreaux, the great explorer.

Playtime is tiring. The cubs sleep in separate quarters.

The curators really have their hands full now, with five bears that have different needs. But they are definitely up for the task and we are confident that they will help each of the yearlings and cubs to grow healthy and strong. Stay tuned.
