The doctors at UTCVM gave us good reports on the three tiny neonate bear cubs. They are doing well in the ICU. All three of them are taking formula from bottles and are now eating about 30% of their body weight each day! We are told that is just what they should be doing, and that is very good news.
They snuggle together, just as they would be if they were still in a den.
Like any newborn, a wee little cub sleeps a lot. Here is Pawley, who fell asleep in Curator Bailey’s hand!
By contrast, our two big yearlings are roaming their enclosures, getting bigger each day, it seems. They love their retired Christmas trees.
Twinkle and Tinsel like to rub in the fragrant trees. We are sure that they enjoy the scent as well as the scratchiness of the needles.
Today was the day when ABR was scheduled to receive the incubator like the one at UTCVM. It may take a day or two to get it up and running in The Cub Nursery. Watch for it!
