July, 1996 was the beginning of Appalachian Bear Rescue. It was when ABR received the first orphaned bear, who was named Zero. To celebrate our twenty-five years of bears, here is a slideshow that features most of the 365 cubs and yearlings who have come to us. Although we were not able to save all of them, the majority were released back into the wild, and even for those who did not have that successful conclusion to their stories, we were able to give them safety and peace at the end of their lives. We hope that you enjoy the slideshow that will be a “trip down memory lane” for those of you who have been following the ABR story and will be an introduction to ABR history for those who have found us more recently.
