Here are some recent photos, taken by our curators, of the three SC bears foraging for the food that has been thrown over the fence into the Wild Enclosure. They display instinctive foraging skills, since they were never taught by a mother bear. We have learned by observation that many of the “typical” bear behaviors are, indeed instinctive.
As you can see, our three little bears are getting bigger all the time. Our curators now estimate their weights at 30+ pounds each! That is more than 10 times what they weighed when they arrived in March!
