On November 9th, four of our cubs were deemed ready for release back into the wild, to have their second chance at a normal, wild life! We have a real treat in the portraits that designated photographer Ken LaValley took just before their release. Today we will share several of the portraits, and in our next post we will share more. We’re sure you’ll agree that these photos are amazing, and the cubs really look “grown up!” They are strong and healthy, and their weights ranged from 77 to 97 pounds! Those weights give them a good margin of extra fat to carry them through as they adjust to their new habitat. Even if they can’t find food in the wild, they have enough weight to see them through until spring.
We think the cubs look great, thanks to the wonderful care provided by our curators and the nutritious foods they have consumed during their stay at ABR. We wish them all happy, healthy lives in the wild, where they were meant to live.
