The brothers in Hartley House are making progress, but to one of the curators it seemed that Rags might need help to get enough food. Not that Scruffy is intentionally depriving him, but as the larger cub, who is more developed, he just gets to eat more, faster.
The curators placed food items on the balance beam. Rags investigated. There was fruit, peanut butter, honey, and nuts.
Rags knocked the fruit off and ate the preferred stuff underneath.
Scruffy climbed up. Will he eat the fruit?
Nope. He kicks the apple slice to the floor.
Curator Tom comes to clean up the room. He was watching the cubs and thinks that Rags needs some help getting to the food.
Tom confined Scruffy to the other room and gave Rags a new bowl.
Soon, Rags came to eat from the bowl.
Today, a new idea – bowl of food and a ball smeared with peanut butter and honey.Rags really liked the ball. Scruffy emptied the bowls.
Rags got another bowl of food.
Rags ate and then fell asleep. Scruffy came in and cleaned out the bowls.
The curators have decided that Rags needs a bit more help, just for a while, so he gets as much food as he wants and needs.
In the afternoon, the cubs foraged for nuts that the curators had buried.
Soon the cubs were tired and fell asleep next to each other.
