Pressley and Friday were the very first yearling cubs of 2012. When they were admitted on January 13th they were very sad and depleted little bears.
But they soon became best buds and, as you can see from this new photo, after a month of rest, medicine, and good nutrition they are looking much better. They still have some growing to do before their springtime release, but they will be ready by April. These two, along with several others that have reached weights of approximately 30 pounds, will soon be given access to the large enclosure (the Wild Side) where they can experience a more natural, wild setting. There are several “dens” in the Wild Side, filled with straw and Christmas trees to provide additional cozy places for them to learn about hibernation.
