On a windy day, the bears take to the trees. This seems illogical to us, but to a bear it makes perfect sense.
Nettles has adopted “Summitt’s Branch” and spends a lot of time there. At least it is a sturdy branch!
She decided to climb down.
And she discovered a wonderful treat – pool peanuts!
Nettles loved them! She ate and ate.
She removed some to eat outside the pool, but that was too much trouble.
She balanced on the pool rim to eat more.
After eating her fill, Nettles moved away from the pool.
In the enclosure next door, Peppermint climbed down the tree.
When she reached the ground she decided there were too many sounds and smells from the wind. That made her anxious, and she wanted to climb back up.
Her brother was in the way!
He kept going down, and they passed on the tree.
He ran across the enclosure, and Peppermint decided to go back down.
Running across the enclosure, she climbed up to the resting platform. This was the first time that either of these yearlings had used it.
Of course, Mistletoe wanted up, too. But Peppermint bopped him to prevent that.
Success! Mistletoe reaches the platform, and then both yearlings abandon it. It will be interesting to see if they return to it in the future.
Lovey Bear has moved his bed into the doorway, blocking the gate so the curators can’t close it to clean his room. They must wait until he moves it again.
Meanwhile, Rover is comfy as he sleeps following his good dinner. He looks very relaxed, doesn’t he?
