UPDATE! The Cub Nursery, part one of ABR’s Capital Improvement Campaign, is paid for! Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we’ve raised $10,000 to buy the building, and to equip it to meet the special needs of very young baby bears. Thank you, to all the ABR friends who donated money, time, and labor to make this happen! All that is needed now is the shelving and worktable for supplies and carriers.  Without you, we couldn’t do what we do! The Refrigerated Storage Unit, the second part of the campaign, will allow us (at last!) to store fresh food on premises. Soon, we’ll be able to buy in bulk, at the best possible price! The unit is estimated to cost $15,000.00 This includes the cost of the structure, the spray insulation, and the refrigerating unit. So far, we’ve raised $7,078.77, leaving a total of $7,921.23 to go! Thank you!

Part three will be the second outdoor enclosure. In the wild, little bears don’t stay in one place for very long, or in the numbers we’ve accommodated over the last year. Our first wild enclosure needs time to regenerate from the exuberance of our cubby guests. Special fencing and equipment is required to make the second wild enclosure as secure and as safe as the first. Estimated cost: $5,000.
