Due to the recent unfortunate incident in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, when a visitor and a bear had an encounter resulting in the bear’s death, ABR and the GSMNP officers have been extensively interviewed.  This article quotes Lisa Stewart, ABR curator, as well as Kim Delozier, Supervisory Wildlife Biologist.  There are also video clips with the article, one of which is an interview with Lisa.  All of the advice offered is excellent, and the suggestions should be followed by anyone who visits the GSMNP or any area where bears are active.
