It seems like our little Tots Bear can’t get over her troubles. Since she and Jackie P joined Daisy Mae, Duke, and Jellybean in Enclosure #2, it seemed that all was well. The cubs were friends, and enjoyed all their cubby activities. But yesterday the curators noticed on the cam footage that Tots was limping. They needed to get her to the UTCVM right away.

She was limping as she walked on the platform. Rewinding the cam footage, they saw that she had fallen from the firehose hammock, and landed on her bad arm (the one that had been broken earlier).

GRSM Biologist Ryan Williamson came to the facility and was able to immobilize Tots in the enclosure.

As an expert with wild bears, Ranger Ryan immobilized Tots.

Two UT vets and two students, Prepared Tots for her trip back to the College of Veterinary Medicine.

Soon they were on their way.

Tots was examined at UTCVM.

Tots had re-fractured her humerus at the same site, but the plate remained.

She was released back to ABR, with medications.

Tots came back to Hartley House.

After her ordeal, she slept through the night.

We are sorry to see her back in confinement, but we’ll try our best to make her get better.
